A color facsimile reprint of the City Atlas of Albany, New York, surveyed and published under the direction of G. M. Hopkins, C.E., of Philadelphia in 1876. Compiled from official records, private plans, and actual surveys based upon plans deposited in the Department of Surveys, engraved by Edward Busch and printed by F. Bourquin, this historic atlas provides a detailed, plate-by-plate record of the City of Albany, showing property lines, lot owners, building footprints, and street layouts across the entire city.

The atlas maps Albany across twenty-three lettered plates (A through W), covering the city from the Hudson River westward to the city line and from the southern Old City Line northward toward the New York Central Railroad and Loudonville Plank Road. Coverage extends across Albany's principal streets and districts, including South Pearl Street, North Pearl Street, State Street, Clinton Avenue, Hudson Avenue, Madison Avenue, Delaware Avenue, Eagle Street, Lark Street, Maiden Lane, Ten Broeck Street, Gansevoort Street, and the area along the Albany Basin, reaching to the Bethlehem and Guilderland township lines at the city's edge.

Each plate shows land areas and property owners' names at a detailed urban scale, making the atlas a street-level record of who owned what across Albany at the time of the nation's centennial.

This reprint is reproduced in full color from a digitized public-domain original. It is offered for genealogists and family-history researchers, local and regional historians, house and property researchers, map collectors, and anyone studying the development of the City of Albany, New York.
