Illustrated Atlas of Juniata County, Pennsylvania was published from actual surveys by Wall, Mann & Hall of Philadelphia in 1877 and printed on the steam lithographic press of Fred Bourquin. This edition is a complete facsimile, printed in full color from the State Library of Pennsylvania copy, so the hand-colored maps and every page of text and views are reproduced as issued.
The atlas opens with a view of the Juniata County court house at Mifflintown and the list of county officers, an historical sketch of the county and a map of Pennsylvania, followed by the outline map of the county and a map of each of its thirteen townships: Beale, Delaware, Fayette, Fermanagh, Greenwood, Lack, Milford, Monroe, Spruce Hill, Susquehanna, Turbett, Tuscarora and Walker. Village plans include Mifflintown, Patterson, Port Royal, Thompsontown, Mexico, Richfield, Waterloo, McAlisterville, Johnstown, East Waterford, East Salem, Oakland Mills, McCoysville and Perrysville. A business directory for every township, listing residents with their post offices and occupations, runs through the volume, printed alongside the text of the Pennsylvania Constitution of 1873, and lithographic views show residences, farms, the Juniata Valley Home and the county fair ground at Perrysville.
An essential reference for genealogists, house historians, and collectors of Juniata County history.
