A color facsimile reprint of the Atlas of Fifteen Miles Around Baltimore, Including Anne Arundel County, Maryland, compiled, drawn, and published from actual surveys by G. M. Hopkins, C.E., of Philadelphia in 1878. Designed and engraved by Walter S. MacCormac and printed at F. Bourquin's Steam Lithographic Press, this historic atlas documents land ownership and settlement across Anne Arundel County and the surrounding region within fifteen miles of Baltimore in the post–Civil War era.
The atlas maps the districts and communities of four counties radiating out from Baltimore, including:
Anne Arundel County — the First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, and Eighth Districts
Baltimore County — the First, Second, Third, and Thirteenth Districts, plus portions of the Fourth, Eighth, Ninth, Tenth, Eleventh, and Twelfth Districts
Howard County — the Second District and parts of the Third, Fifth, and Sixth Districts
Cities and village plans — Annapolis, Friendship, Galesville, Horn Point, and Owensville
District maps show land areas and property owners' names. The atlas also includes an outline map of Anne Arundel County and the fifteen-mile radius around Baltimore, a table of distances and population, a historical sketch of the region, a Patrons' Directory, and general maps of Baltimore, the State of Maryland, the United States, and the Western and Eastern Hemispheres.
