Insurance Maps of Seattle, Washington, published by the Sanborn-Perris Map Co., Limited, of 115 Broadway, New York, in 1893 — reproduced here as a complete color facsimile of Volume Two, with all forty-one sheets, numbered 51 through 91, together with the index map, the key, and the street and business indexes. Each of the large original sheets is reproduced across two pages, at a scale of fifty feet to the inch.

Where Volume One mapped the business district rebuilding after the fire of 1889, Volume Two covers the north end of the city and the mill towns beyond it. Every structure is drawn in plan and color-coded by construction — brick, frame, iron, stone front, fireproof — with the number of stories, roof material, window and door openings, iron shutters, fire walls, chimneys, steam boilers, and the name of the business inside.

The sheets run north from Belltown and the Elliott Bay wharves, past the packing houses and squatters' cabins at Virginia and Stewart Streets, over Denny Hill and Queen Anne to Smith's Cove; around both shores of Lake Union and along the line of the projected ship canal; out to Brooklyn and Latona and the Lake Washington shore below Lake View Cemetery and City Park; and on to Fremont on sheet 88 and Ballard on sheets 89 to 91, then a shingle-and-lumber town in its own right.

The index names hundreds of individual buildings and businesses — the Cudahy Packing Co. pork house, Johnstone's Fish Packing, the New York Paint Co. factory, the Queen Anne pumping station, the Madison Street and Front Street cable railway power houses, the North Pacific Brewery, Stimson Mill Co., Salmon Bay Lumber Co. and the West Coast Iron Works at Ballard, the Fremont Milling Co., Mercer Public School, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church among them.

For anyone tracing a specific address, a vanished neighborhood, or a Seattle business, these sheets record the city in a detail no other source preserves — an essential reference for genealogists, house historians, and collectors of Seattle history.
