Facsimile of the 1906 Sanborn fire-insurance atlas of Revere and Winthrop, Massachusetts, reproduced in full color from the Library of Congress copy. It covers both towns on the shore north of Boston Harbor: Revere from the Town Hall and Broadway to the hotels, bath houses and amusements of Revere Beach, Wonderland Park and Point of Pines, and Winthrop from Winthrop Shore Drive and the steamboat wharf to Cottage Park, Crystal Lake and Point Shirley.

The sixty-nine numbered sheets work block by block from the stores and blocks along Broadway, Beach Street and Shirley Avenue in Revere - the Revere Town Hall, the Carnegie Library, the Bellows Block, the Revere House and Oxford House - through the Boston & Maine and Boston, Revere Beach & Lynn railroads and the narrow-gauge car house, the Suburban Gas and Electric Company, the National Fire Proofing Company, the Revere Drop Forge, the Robertson & Sargent forge shop, the Slade spice and grist mill, the Paul varnish works, the Proctor coal yards, the New Method Laundry, Boynton's storage warehouse and the J. P. Squires farm, to the beach along Ocean Avenue and the Revere Beach Reservation - the Massachusetts State Bath Houses, the Atlantic, Garland, Worcester, Savoy, Comfort, Columbus, Metropolitan, Parkway, Victoria and Pleasanton hotels and the Beachmont, the Palace Merry-Go-Round, the Musical Railway, the Nautical Garden, the Coney Island Hurdlers, the Casino, Condit's Summer Ball Room, the Crescent Garden Theatre and Wonderland Park - and then across to Winthrop: the Town Hall, the Frost Library, the steamboat wharf, Young's Hotel, the Crest Hall, New Winthrop, Ocean View, Boulevard, Cottage Park and Leighton hotels, the Cliff House and the Pines, the Kimball metal-polish factory, the Bristol hay, grain and lumber yards and the narrow-gauge car house, with the churches and schools of both towns - Our Lady of Lourdes, St. Anthony's and St. John's Catholic churches, St. Paul's and St. John's Episcopal, the Baptist, Methodist, Congregational and Unitarian churches, the Winthrop High School and the Revere, Shurtleff, Wolcott, Highland and Pauline Street schools, the Dewing Memorial Home, the Winthrop Yacht Club and the Point Shirley Club - and the residential streets of Revere, Winthrop and Point Shirley.

In 1906 the Sanborn Map Company of New York surveyed Revere and Winthrop for the fire-insurance trade, drawing both towns at fifty feet to the inch; an additional sheet of 1917, drawn at one hundred feet to the inch, adds the new streets of central Revere. Every building is shown to scale and color-coded for construction (yellow for frame, pink for brick, blue for stone), with heights, uses, windows, party walls, hydrants, water mains and fire stations all marked. The index lists every street and every named business, church, school, hotel, mill and works with the sheet it appears on, and the key map places the colored sheet grid over the whole city.

This edition is an unabridged facsimile republication of the atlas: the combined title and index sheet, the key map with the report, all sixty-nine numbered map sheets, 1 to 41 for Revere and 42 to 69 for Winthrop and Point Shirley, and the additional sheet 72 of June 1917. Ideal for local historians, genealogists, architects, preservationists and anyone tracing a Revere address back to 1906.
