A color facsimile reprint of the Atlas of Nassau County, Long Island, N.Y., published complete in one volume by E. Belcher-Hyde of Brooklyn and Manhattan in 1914. Described on its title page as historical and statistical, the atlas was based upon maps on file at the county seat in Mineola and upon private plans and surveys furnished by surveyors and individual owners, supplemented by the publisher's own corps of engineers. It documents land ownership and the rapid suburban development of Nassau County in the early twentieth century.

The atlas divides the entire county into eighteen numbered country sections, supplemented by detailed village plans and an extensive index to developments. Coverage spans communities across the towns of Hempstead, North Hempstead, and Oyster Bay, including:

  • North Shore — Great Neck, Port Washington, Sands Point, Manhasset, Roslyn, Glen Cove, Sea Cliff, Bayville, Locust Valley, Oyster Bay, Cold Spring Harbor, Syosset, and Brookville
  • Central county — Mineola (the county seat), Garden City, Hempstead, Westbury, Hicksville, Jericho, Floral Park, Franklin Square, New Hyde Park, Bethpage, and Plainview
  • South Shore — Freeport, Merrick, Bellmore, Wantagh, Massapequa, Rockville Centre, Lynbrook, Valley Stream, Baldwin, Long Beach, Seaford, Oceanside, and Amityville (West)
  • Five Towns and southwest — Inwood, Cedarhurst, Woodmere, Lawrence, Hewlett Bay Park, and East Rockaway

The atlas shows property owners' names across its county sections and village plans, and includes a detailed index to developments listing the many parks, estates, and subdivisions then under development across the county, along with a historical sketch and statistics of population tracing Nassau County's growth from the colonial era through 1910.

This reprint is reproduced in full color from a digitized public-domain original. It is offered for genealogists and family-history researchers, local and regional historians, house and property researchers, map collectors, and anyone studying the settlement and suburban development of Nassau County, Long Island.
