This volume is a complete color facsimile of the Sanborn Map Company's Insurance Maps of Painesville, including Fairport and Richmond, Lake County, Ohio, published in New York in July 1926. All thirty-seven sheets of the original edition are reproduced here in full color, preserving the Sanborn color key that distinguishes brick, frame, stone, and fireproof construction at a glance.

The atlas records the Lake County seat and its Grand River harbor towns building by building: street addresses, construction materials, building heights and uses, business names, water mains, and hydrants. Painesville's civic core appears in detail — the Lake County Court House, jail, and infirmary, Morley Public Library, Memorial Hospital, Erie College, and the county fairgrounds — alongside its industries: the Perfection Tube Company, the Coe Manufacturing Company's veneer machinery works, the National Refining Company, the Sinclair Refining Company, the Storrs & Harrison Company nurseries, and the Painesville Elevator, Gas, and Water Works. Coverage extends down the Grand River to Fairport with its fisheries, the Pennsylvania & Lake Erie Dock Company, Finnish Lutheran church and Finnish Socialist hall, and to the village of Richmond with the B. & O. round house and freight depots. A full street and specials index appears on the title sheet.

An essential reference for genealogists, house historians, and collectors of Lake County history.
