A complete facsimile of Illustrated Cincinnati: A Pictorial Hand-Book of the Queen City, written by D. J. Kenny and published by Robert Clarke & Co. of Cincinnati in 1875 — the city's best-known nineteenth-century view book, promising on its title page "over three hundred and twenty engravings and a new and complete map." This edition reproduces the original in its entirety from a high-resolution scan of the University of California Libraries copy, and includes the large folding "New Map of Cincinnati and Suburbs," prepared expressly for the book by Strobridge & Co., with its key to more than fifty points of interest — railroad depots, hotels, theatres, parks, libraries, and the inclined planes — reproduced from a separate example of the original edition.

Kenny leads the reader through the Queen City at the height of its river-city golden age: its architecture, manufactures, and trade; its social, literary, scientific, and charitable institutions; its churches, schools, and colleges; and the principal points of interest for visitor and resident alike, closing with an account of the most attractive suburbs. The wood engravings deliver street-by-street pictorial coverage — street scenes, public buildings, church spires, storefronts, and hillside villas — making this the most complete visual record of Victorian Cincinnati ever put between covers.

An essential reference for local historians, house historians, and collectors of Cincinnati and Ohio history.
